Light weight to wear in the heat of summer or layer up when it's cooler out. The cut of the vest is great also, doesn't go up around your neck more open...
I live in northern California and I was looking for a lighter vest for the hotter climate. I saw this one made out of twill with the V neck and I had to have it. The other vests from First MFG with all the pockets are cool but I never used them myself, so this simpler vest was perfect for me. The YKK zipper is nice and chunky, easy to find and get a hold of. The leather on the collar and and arm hole is a nice touch. Overall this vest is light, keeps me cool, looks good and fulfills my needs. I can't believe I only paid what I paid for it. I recommend it highly for anyone looking for the same features I was.
I really love this vest. Fit is spot on with other products I’ve had from First Mfg and the denim is soft while still leaving me feeling protected. Tons of pockets, as I expect from First, and a great piece of gear to rock on a hot day or to layer with a hoodie. Love line so much I bought one for my brother in Texas and he digs it as much as I do.
This is a nice piece of kit. It’s denim but not like a denim riding shirt or jacket, it’s very soft and playable. The leather collar lays flat and in 90-100F weather this vest wasn’t causing me to burn up. There was plenty of air flow while riding. If you have a CCW you’re going to have ALOT of printing with this. Otherwise the inner pockets are big enough to carry a Red Bull 20oz with little discomfort.
All in all this is a great summer time vest for hotter weather riding (layer up if you’re riding at night when it’s chilly out).
